Uploading a Podcast

This week in class we are going to be going over the steps for uploading your podcast and embedding it on your site.

1. Record your podcast and export it as a mp3.
2. Download CCPublisher here.  CCPublisher takes your file and uploads it to the Internet Archive, it also applies the appropriate license for you.
3.  Visit the Internet Archive and register for an account.
4.  Open CCPublisher and walk through the menus.

After you upload the file, you will be giving a web address that will point to your file. After you get the web address click on the music button at the top of this post, and click on url.  Paste the address in that space.

Once you are done with your post, make sure to publish.  That is it, you have published your first podcast.  Easy, right?

Give it a shot and see how you do.

Introductory Podcast

Thanks for working so hard in class. I wanted to post some information about the podcast that is due in 2 weeks (2/23).

You are creating a podcast to introduce yourself to your students and parents. In this episode maybe include information about your experience and education. You might also include information about your philosophy of education and any information that you think your parents might want to know – homework policy, grading, etc.

The episode should be about 2 minutes in length. I know that I did not show you how to add music (PC people) but see if you can add some introductory music. Experiment. Experiment. Experiment. That is going to be the best way to lean the ins and outs of the program. Feel free to email me or skype me if you get stuck.

Extra Audio Files for PC

For the PC users here are a couple of websites for extra audio files to add depth to your podcasts.

Sound Effects: http://www.findsounds.com/
Music: http://www.magnatunes.com/

For the music site, they give you access to their music library, you just need to give them credit somewhere on your post/podcast.

There are many other sites, just do a search in google. Good Luck!

Standards Based Blog Post

For one of this weeks assignment you need to create a standards based blog post. The post needs to include the following information:

1. The content standards. Please include the grade, and subject along with the standards. The standards are located at http://www.cde.ca.gov/be/st/ss/

2. A short explaition of what the students will accomplish by the time they finish the activity.

3. Links to 3 websites for the students to use when completing the activity. By finding the website ahead of time you will save your kids a lot of headaches, an d you will have a little more control over the sites they are visiting.

3. There needs to be some sort of assessment for the students to complete when they are finished. This can be a worksheet that they need to complete or an online quiz. There are many sites available for this. Here is one that I have used before. Classmaker

Here is a link to a standards based blog post that I have done in my classroom.

Good luck!
