Case Study Projects

In the comments section please post your case study topic idea. Here is the information from the syllabus about the case study presentation – which is due the final class.

Please select a technology (historical/current/emerging) that was not discussed in class. Your case study will include a written component and a visual component covering the following areas:
1. Implications in the classroom environment.
2. Evolution of the technology.

The final night you will present you finding to the class. Your presentation should focus on the technology you chose to research, addressing each of the focus points listed about. Your presentation should be in the form of a video podcast. Presentations should be no more than 1o minutes in length.

Here are a couple of sites to help you come up with ideas if you are struggling.

Hello Lance, I decided to do my case study on the pen/pencil/writing tool. I think it would be interesting because the pen/writing tool has changed dramatically over time with the advent of technology. Example: a burnt stick to a Pulse Pen. :) I think you may know where I got the idea.

    Hi Lance,
I have decided to do my project on Webquests.
This is something I have sort of looked into and would
love to learn more about. As far as evolution with
webquests go, could I discuss researching in encyclopedias,
microfiche, newspapers, and whatever came before that,
to finding information through a webquest? Let me know
    what you think. Thanks!

    Hi Lance,
I would like to do my project on cell phones. I find it interesting how far phones have come in such a short amount of time. I remember the big car phones in the early 80′s and now it is a mini computer.

Apparently I posted my topic in the wrong blog. :( I would like to do my project on projectors. I was thinking of following the evolution of the projector. I guess it would go from the overhead projector to the ELMO projector to the LCD projector????

I would like to do my project on how students are using netbooks/laptops in the classroom and going paperless. I think it might be broad but that is the idea that I am thinking of. Please let me know what you think or if I am over my head.
