Standards-Based Blog Post
For one of this weeks assignment you need to create a standards based blog post. The post needs to include the following information:
1. The content standards. Please include the grade, and subject along with the standards. The standards are located athttp://www.cde.ca.gov/be/st/ss/
2. A short explaition of what the students will accomplish by the time they finish the activity.
3. Links to 3 websites for the students to use when completing the activity. By finding the website ahead of time you will save your kids a lot of headaches, an d you will have a little more control over the sites they are visiting.
3. There needs to be some sort of assessment for the students to complete when they are finished. This can be a worksheet that they need to complete or an online quiz. There are many sites available for this. Here is one that I have used before.Classmaker
Here is a link to a standards based blog post that I have done in my classroom.
Good luck!

Mine is posted, hope it is what you were looking for! Lance, I have a username and passcode for you to take the test on classmaker. I’ll give it to you tonight. I can get everyone else’s names and give user and passcodes too if they want to see the online quiz.

Students write coherent and focused texts that convey a well-defined perspective and tightly reasoned argument. The writing demonstrates students’ awareness of the audience and purpose and progression through the stages of the writing process.

My standards-based blog is posted on my website. It takes the students through the car buying process. It is a unit based project that the students can adjust while they are learning the different costs and expenses associated with buying different types of cars.

I designed my standards-based blog so students can practice working with positive and negative numbers. I always use manipulatives when teaching this concept but this has more of a game type setting that my students don’t get with just using manipulatives. Students can also do this activity at home and I don’t have to lend out any personal or classroom resources.
